HISTORY continued

I sold the ’97 Camaro rolling in the fall of 1999 on a Friday night and located an updated ’94 Bickel Camaro in Barnsdale, Ohio. It had originally been built for Don Stratton to run in Competition Eliminator. It had been updated with the late model front-end. I made the deal over the phone and was on the road to go pick it up on Monday. The only reason I didn’t leave on Sunday was I had to go to the Lamesa bank to cash a check the buyer has given me on Friday. It took me 2 days to drive to Barnsdale and then 2 days to drive home. Long trip. This was the first car that I bought that was a “name brand” car. I always thought Don Ness built the best cars but Bickel built nice cars too.

I took the 461” motor and transmission that was in the ’97 Camaro and put it in the Bickel Camaro. But before we did that Tommy freshened it up.

Signs-On-The-Go in Lubbock, Texas applied the vinyl lettering. We raced locally at Hobbs Motorsports Park, Idalou Motorsports, and Wall Dragway near San Angelo, Texas.
